No More Heroes - (Dont Care collection)
NO MORE HEROES (United Artists)
This is their second, and probably best-known LP, No More Heroes.  Reaching No. 2 in the charts, the title track made No. 8 on 45 and the album really is a classic of the era - 'I Feel Like A Wog' is a pacey crescendo of resentment; 'Dagenham Dave' - about the tragic death of their number one fan - is a catchy pop tune (with a most un-punk harmony chorus); and 'Bring On The Nubiles' was another song destined to bring on some trouble with the press. The way that it stops dead just before the fantastic 'Something Better Change' still sends a thrill up your leather jacket. All in all, No More Heroes is almost a greatest hits album, such is the quality of its songs - and it was released in the same year as the debut, too! Record execs just wouldn't allow such a prolific release schedule nowadays. It's still a pity about the horrible 'School Mam', though.
