A disagreement between co-founders Dave Robinson and Jake Riveria has resulted in Jake leaving Stiff and taking two of their best potential assets with him; Elvis Costello and producer/performer Nick Lowe. The fallout effect will result in The Damned 'label-less' by Christmas.The Stiff Empire before the split - (Dont Care collection)

Sham 69 very educational - (Dont Care collection)
 are getting a big break in a most unusual way. Just when you thought that the establishment in London was against the very idea of punk rock, Sham 69 are asked to appear in a TV documentary about "new wave music" for the Inner London Education Authority. They performed two songs for the series "Confessions Of A Music Lover." It was shown to various colleges on cable TV. In the TV program there will also be a brief interview with Alternative TV leader Mark Perry who also just happens to be their label boss. Meanwhile Sham take another slot down the Roxy.
